The Listhost Basketball League is a spring basketball league consisting of 12 9-player teams. Games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Henry Crown at 8 pm, 8:45 pm, and 9:30 pm. The league is run similar to a pro league, complete with player drafts, trades, an all-star game, individual awards, and a championship series.
GAME RULES
The games will be run the way pick-up games are typically played: call your own fouls, no free throws, respect calls, take ball up top on dead balls, etc. First possession is determined by a make-it-take-it shot from a player on either team.
Games will be played to 30, by 1s and 2s. Games should last no longer than 30-45 minutes. There are 4 timeouts allowed for each team (1 full per half, no carry-over; 1 20-second per half, no carry-over) and halftime when combined score equals 30.
LEAGUE RULES
All players are subject to the possibility of being traded at any point in the season. Additionally, entry drafts exist, so if you know of other people who want to join, send their names to the commissioner and they can be added to the entry draft list. Players are not allowed to be added directly to a team, but must go through the draft system as agreed to by the owners.
Game times may change if both owners agree. We want as few forfeits as possible, so try to be flexible as to accommodate schedule conflicts and what not. We want to minimize forfeits.
Maintain communication with your team. We all are going to miss some games, which is why each team has at least 9 players (so that 5 are guaranteed to be there every game). Make sure to let your team know if you aren’t going to be able to show up. That way, teams will know whether they need to be there. Nothing is more annoying than showing up for a forfeit and not being able to play. Also, if many players will miss a game, owners can reschedule. The point is, make sure to communicate so the league can run smoothly.
